Anxiety
& Depression
Depression and anxiety are two of the most common mental health issues people struggle with. While in some ways they may seem like opposites, they often show up hand in hand.
You may have experienced this if you notice that sometimes your thoughts are racing, you feel like you’re never doing enough and you’ve got a general sense of uneasiness even if there’s nothing specific you’re worried about - but then at other times you feel completely drained, burnt out and overwhelmed but you just can’t seem to get yourself to do any of the things that might help you feel better.
This Might Look Like…
Depression
You’re less motivated than usual
Things that used to excite you don’t seem to anymore
You feel hopeless or helpless, like things can’t get better
You feel burnt out, exhausted, and tired even when you rest
You’re very self critical or judgemental of others
Anxiety
Your thoughts are racing, maybe the most when you’re trying to go to sleep or slow down
You can’t seem to focus on one thing, even though you feel like you have a million things to do
You’re annoyed and irritated easily (even if you keep this to yourself)
Your heart races or feels like it’s pounding and your stomach hurts, loss of appetite
You generally feel worried or uneasy, like something bad might happen even if you don’t know what
You already have the tools in you to start feeling better today
Depression and anxiety are both experienced in our bodies in the nervous system, as well as in our hearts and minds as the stories of our lives. By approaching your nervous system and the mind body connection to bring you relief now, in the day to day, as well as addressing the root causes or triggers for your anxiety and depression, you can begin to create cycles of greater well being and ability to manage these experiences as they come and experience them fewer and farther between.
