Therapy for LGBTQ+ Folks

I offer therapy specifically tailored to individuals who are part of the LGBTQ community. I’m a queer person myself and consider my approach to not just be LGBTQ friendly but fully celebratory of queerness. Maybe your current struggles don’t really have much to do with your sexuality or gender identity at all but you’d just like to connect with a therapist who understands that element of your identity without having to explain too much.

Maybe you are struggling with issues around your gender or sexuality, like not feeling accepted by your family or peers, dealing with the stress of sociopolitical issues, or relationship issues. Maybe you’re exploring polyamory or kink lifestyles and you just want a therapist who you know won’t judge or shame you while you try to figure this stuff out.

You are the expert on you, but sometimes it’s nice to not have to explain yourself to someone

I’m passionate about working with queer folks because of my own experiences both as a queer person and as part of a queer family. I’ve seen firsthand the impact of shame around sexuality, growing up in a home with a father who was a pastor who later came out as gay. Well, actually he was out then back in then out again. It’s a long story but the gist is, I’ve seen the utter despair and shame that can come from trying to change who you are and the freedom that comes from living a life aligned with your authentic self when it comes to sexuality. I don’t identify as religious but I have lived experience growing up Christian.

Throughout my career I’ve worked with many non-binary folks and have developed a subspeciality in working with non-binary and gender non conforming individuals. I also subspecialize in addressing the impacts of religious trauma.
